The
Surrounding Area
When you arrive in Murcia you will soon discover that it is one of
south east Spain’s best kept secrets….. it is blessed with numerous
areas of outstanding beauty.
Playa del Mojon is one of nine local beaches to be awarded the Blue
Flag from FEEE.
This area has some of the best beaches in the Costa Blanca,
stretching from Torre de la Horadada to the north, down to the very
tip at Punta des Algas. Each of these unspoilt beaches are large &
wide covered in fine white sand, the topaz blue sea is tranquil &
very rarely becomes unsettled. There is no sudden drop or changes in
the level so allows children to play & bathe safely. There are beach
bars, play areas & foot shower facilities to wash off the sand.
El Mojon is a small village on the shores of the Mediterranean
located on the border between Murcia & Alicante. Casa Naranja is
just 100m from the beach, one friendly beach bar & two excellent
restaurants which open all year. There are two further restaurants
that open in the peak summer months.
In addition to the crystal clear Mediterranean & glorious beaches
the village of El Mojon looks out to the salt lakes, sand dunes &
nature reserves for which the area is justly famous. At the southern
end of the village is the start of the Mar Menor, the northern end
looks out to the neighbouring village of Torre de la Horadada.
El Mojon is within sight of Pilar de la Horadada & its sister town
of Torre de la Horadada, both have a large number of pleasant bars &
restaurants to suit every taste, serving every dish imaginable from
international cuisine to simple local delicacies.
Two of the most popular areas for eating & drinking are the Latino
quarter & La Torre square, British, French, Italian & Spanish bars
open until the early hours.
Torre de la Horadada is now within easy walking distance by a newly
constructed broad walk connecting El Mojon straight through to the
local bars & marina at Torre de la Horadada.
Further along the coast & within a ten minute drive are La Zenia,
Flamenca & Torrevieja which feature night clubs & casinos that open
until the early hours. Modernista casino & Pacha night club in
Torrevieja are the ideal place to go for a night out, closing at 4am
during the summer months.
Torrevieja has a large, lively seafront promenade with mini golf,
street market stalls & funfair, the beaches are covered in fine
white sand or have unusual rock pools with seating. There is a huge
modern marina offering plenty of facilities for sailing & other
water sports. There are ranks of bars & restaurants to choose from
including McDonalds & Burger King!
Just 5km south of El Mojon is the fishing town of San Pedro del
Pinatar, whose beaches are prized by the Spanish & have a wide
variety of water sports & beach activities. There are a large
